GTA: Chinatown Wars details revealed by Nintendo Power

GTA Chinatown WarsThe latest game in the Grand Theft Auto universe has been shrouded in mystery just like its predecessors since it was first revealed at E3 2008. The only thing we knew about the game was that it would have something to do with Chinatown and it’s exclusively for the Nintendo DS.

Today (September 19, 2008) scans from an upcoming issue of Nintendo Power magazine give more insight into what this game will include.

According to Neogaf GTA: Chinatown Wars will be a cell-shaded adventure taken from an isometric viewing angle. The somewhat top-down perspective is reminiscent of the earlier GTA titles that first appeared on PC in 1997. The game will stay true to its roots by offering an open-world environment with a Mature rating to boot.

Other details include a full day and night cycle, touchscreen minigames, a PDA that will keep track of contacts and serve as a GPS unit and a good number of radio stations to jam to.

GTA: Chinatown Wars is designed around quick bursts of gameplay that has come to be expected from a handheld title. So far no details were given about the possibility of multiplayer matches, though statistics from the game will be uploaded to the Rockstar Social Club website through the DS Wi-Fi connection.
