Stargate Worlds’ closed beta starts October 15, 2008

Stargate Worlds

Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment’s (CME) upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game Stargate Worlds will enter a closed beta phase on Wednesday (October 15, 2008), according to a press release issued by Firesky, the game’s publisher.

If you are interested in taking part in the closed beta but have yet to receive an access key, you can still sign up via the game’s official website, StargateWorlds.com. Beta testers will be granted access to the game in waves, so you’re not necessarily out of luck if you aren’t chosen by October 15, 2008.

Stargate Worlds is based on MGM’s popular Stargate SG-1 television series, which concluded its final season in 2006. Future expansions will also take inspiration from Stargate Atlantis, which is set to complete its fifth and final season later this year. CME has yet to confirm whether features from Stargate Universe, the upcoming third Stargate TV series, will be included at a later date.

The final build of Stargate Worlds is currently slated to launch in early 2009. It will allow players to chose from a variety of “archetypes” including races from the show such as the “Human”, “Asgard” and “Goa’uld”, as well as different classes such as “Scientist” (a la Samantha Carter) and “Solider” (a la Jack O’Neill).
