Exit DS delayed

Exit DS boxTaito has just announced that Exit DS is going to be a bit tardy. Well, more than a bit - a month late. Originally, Exit DS was scheduled to be released October 7, 2008. Now, Taito and Square Enix have pushed back the release date to November 4, 2008. Everything else, including the budget $19.99 price, will remain the same. You’ll just have to wait a while to save virtual people’s lives.

Exit DS is very similar to the other versions of Exit already available. You play as Mr. Esc and save people from dangerous buildings by finding them and leading them to exits. The DS version features touch screen controls and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection compatibility that allows you to see who can escape buildings the fastest.

Exit DS was originally released in Japan as Hijouguchi: Exit DS on January 24, 2008. Considering that much of the text in the Japanese game, as well as character voices, were already in English, its difficult to determine the reason for this delay. Perhaps Square Enix wanted to release it closer to the winter holidays, in the hopes that it would get more attention from consumers.
