Three incredibly girly games headed to, you guessed it, the DS

O-Games logoO-Games (as in “Oh no!") is going to be bringing three potentially patronizing games for girls to the Nintendo DS. It has announced that it will be releasing My Make-Up, My Dress-Up and My Secret Diary simultaneously on October 21, 2008. I don’t know if the game wall at GameStop can handle this.

The press release says the following about the three games:

“Make Over and Pamper Yourself and Friends with My Make-Up! Trade Beauty Secrets and Find Your Fashion Niche with My Dress-Up! Keep Track of Top Secret Gossip and Quiz Friends with My Secret Diary!”

It sounds like it’s talking about fashion magazines - not video games. The abuse of capital letters makes me feel like I’m standing in a grocery aisle, looking at Cosmopolitan, Glamour or Life & Style. Maybe even the Enquirer. Definitely not appealing. If anything, its embarrassing. These titles make the Imagine line of games sound intelligent.

The titles are pretty self explanatory. In My Make-Up you do make up on fake faces. You can also exchange your make overs with friends who have the game. My Dress-Up has you dressing up fake people. Like My Make-Up, you can trade with friends who have the game. My Make-Up and My Dress-Up are also compatible, as you can upload faces to My Dress-Up or dressed bodies to My Make-Up. My Secret Diary lets you keep a journal, play with fortune telling programs, send messages to friends, keep a calendar and collect pictures from My Make-Up and My Dress-Up.

Wait, I changed my mind on My Secret Diary. It could be cute for little girls. I just had a flashback to when I was in grade school, and every one of my friends and I each had one of those Hasbro/Tiger Electronics Dear Diary things. You know what I’m talking about - LCD screen, had a phone book, virtual pet dog to play with, fortune teller, calendar, could send messages to other Dear Diaries and could be password protected. You couldn’t actually use it as a real diary - it barely had enough memory for the phonebook. It was still cute though. I think I still have mine.
