PSP-3000’s battery life won’t be shorter than previous PSPs

It was only a week ago that Sony’s Hardware Marketing Director John Koller announced in a GameSpot video that the PSP-3000 (aka PSP brite) would have a shorter battery life than previous PSP units. Today (September 3, 2008), Koller issued a statement on Playstation.Blog saying that the PSP-3000’s battery life will be equal to that of the original PSP and PSP slim.

In the latest statement, Koller confirms that the new, brighter screen will require more battery power, but that the system is being crafted in such a way that everything else will use less power. He goes on to say the PSP-3000 will last for between four and six hours if you’re playing games, and between four and five hours if you’re watching movies - just like the previous PSP models.

In other news, Sony has given Koller a nice set of index cards to use at all future interviews. The cards are specially prepared with approved PSP-3000 statements. They’re purple. I’m joking.
